About the Role

POA is looking for a National Waste Program Coordinator to join our team to develop and deliver business sustainability programs. We are looking for a seasoned waste consultant with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in waste sustainability and/or consultancy role.


The goal of the Business Program is to help communities, organisations and councils to reduce single use plastics within a 12-month period. We provide organisations with a comprehensive toolkit of resources that facilitate employee engagement and innovation to achieve this goal. Location:

Based in Melbourne. This position may commence on a work from home basis and will move to an office location (ideally for at least two days per week) in metropolitan Melbourne


Term:

Immediate start

Two-year contract commencing ASAP

The role is a minimum of 3 days a week with flexibility


Remuneration:

$65,000 - $75,000 per annum Salary commensurate with experience

Responsibilities

  • Liaise and coordinate business team participants

  • Drive the ongoing development of the Business Program which includes advanced research skills. You will also be instrumental in establishing strategies, and best practices to maintain the program and keep participants engaged

  • Advocate for the minimisation of single use plastics and enhance stakeholder knowledge and understanding of these issues

  • Develop and implement industry sector expansion of the Program Toolkit including addressing climate change and its relationship to plastic waste


Requirements

Essential:

  • Experience/qualifiedas a sustainability consultant or in supply chain/product alternatives for plastic waste. You are an innovative thinker who looks for new and improved ways to deliver exceptional solutions to your customers

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to enableeffective communication with a range of Program stakeholders

  • Experience with Microsoft Azure and SQL databases (or capability with equivalent software)

  • Demonstrated self-motivation and ability to work independently


Desirable:

  • Technical knowledge about single use plastics is a distinct advantage

  • Demonstrated experience in supporting employees, volunteers, or interns

  • Understanding of Microsoft Office Teams, SharePoint and Access

  • Circular economy delivery experience

  • Carbon accounting and LCA experience


Key Performance Indicators:

1. Quantifiable waste minimisation results with organisations

2. Delivery of Business Program stages within timeframes and budgets

3. Evaluation of technical program development, its expansion, and delivery to clients
